Robert Harding Saved My Mac

I was faced with a problem with my beloved MacBook last week. It made a clicking noise, and a white screen appeared with a question mark in the middle - BAD SIGN! I took my Mac to Robert Harding Computers Ltd in Hove and they fixed the problem in less than 24 hours. Not only is the service superb, the guys - Robert and Gordon are real gents, very professional and totally charming. I highly recommend them! Heres a link to their website http://www.rh-computers.com/
Thanks again guys!

Ricky Powell is cooooool

Basquiat and Warhol - I want this picture so much!

The MAN

I had an amazing night at the old Brighton Music Library last night. Legendary photographer Ricky Powell did a live talk/ slide show with DJ Format supplying the tunes. Ricky talked his audience through a set of amazing celebrity snapshots. These included early Beastie Boys (looking v v young) John Lee Hooker, Run DMC, Andy Warhol,Sophia Coppola, Jean - Michel Basquiat, Public Enemy, Keith Haring.
Ricky is exceptionally humble, down to earth and despite the huge talent in the room the whole affair had a low key vibe with lots of audience participation. He is also funny and the dude obviously still likes to party. The venue is a cold place but there was something quite appealing about the derelict basement and the underground buzz thats fast disappearing in Brighton. My fingers were numb, the toilets were disgusting but it was great and as I walked out I kept thinking to myself "what a life this man's lead - WHAT A LIFE!" Brilliant!

Jerry Dammers in Brighton

Jerry playing an amazing set

The Specials on Top of the pops.  Loving the knitwear, the flat caps, the check trousers, the shades and the dancing.  Its also got one of my fav lyrics ever " people say to me just be yourself, it makes no sense to follow fashion, how can I be anybody else, I don't try, I got no reason"  Classic!!!

Last weekend legendary Jerry Dammers played a set right on our very own doorstep.  Jerry played eclectic a mix of Ska, Reggae, 70's funk and hip hop.  Everyone loved it and danced and danced and danced the night away.

I think Jerry is super super cool because:
He is a founder and keyboard player of The Specials, The Special A.K.A. and The Spatial AKA Orchestra.

He contributed to the founding of 2 Tone Records, which helped develop the 1970s/1980s ska revival.

He became a noted anti-Apartheid campaigner, helping to create Artists Against Apartheid in the US, and writing the song "Free Nelson Mandela" about the jailed African National Congress leader in South Africa.

Pete Doherty namechecked the Specials song "What I Like Most About You is Your Girlfriend" on Down in Albion.

He used to wear shades whilst performing.

Brighton Festival

Brighton Festival Kicked off last week with the vibrant Children's Parade. The Children's Pardade organised by Community Arts group Same Sky bought lots of colour and fun to the streets of Brighton for the 19th successive year.  More than 4000 participants of all ages from 70 local Schools and community groups took part with a theme of the four classical elements - earth, air, fire and water.

May is such an exciting time in Brighton. The city really comes alive with a huge selection of arts for every taste, every day of the week.  LOVE IT!!!
