I've always loved Diane Keaton's wardrobe in Annie Hall. The oufits Keaton wore were all inspired by her own distinctive style, which were made up of mainly men's vintage clothing, including neckties, shirts, baggy slacks and fedora hats. This made Keaton an unlikely fashion icon in the late 70's - who else could rock a stripe shirt with a polka dot tie? Keaton wore masculine clothing and still looked chic, fabulous and confident - goes to prove you don't have to show lots of flesh to get noticed, neither do you have to follow trends to look good. Keaton had her own individual style, she wore clothes she felt comfortable in, and was'nt afraid to wear whatever she wanted, and in my books, this makes her a true legend.
Aside from the fashion, Annie Hall is an amazing film. Keaton plays Annie so well - she totally deserved the Oscar for Best Actress! Awkard, self depricating, and a bit ditzsy but totally charming at the same time. The best scene for me is after their first meeting, they bump into each other in reception after a game of tennis with their friends. Annie obviously likes this guy but she's really nervous. She's trying to be cool but it just ain't happening. I think we can all relate to this scene. You're chatting to a guy you like, trying to be a bit cool but your nerves just gets in the way, you say all the wrong things and in your head your thinking "why did i say that?" Its just brilliant! If you have'nt seen it, add it to your lovefilm now, it's a classic and absolutely hilarious.
