Favourite Feminists

Here at MamaSan we are feeling the girl power love so we just had to let you know about some of our favourite feminist blogs!

Last week I went to see feminist artist, Sarah Maple's exhibition, 'It's a Girl!' at the Aubin Gallery in London. Maple is from nearby Eastbourne and like all of us at Mama San she likes dressing up. We particularly love her Disney Princess dressing up series which sees Snow White working as a scientist and Belle as a football manager. All supposedly 'masculine environments' that Disney doesn't encourage young girls to be a part of. And everyone should know by now that us girls can do whatever we put our minds to! See more of Sarah Maple's work on her blog.

Next up is the unstoppable and inspirational feminism and fashion blogger, Tavi Gevinson, with her blog, RookieMag. Tavi is always rocking a super cute and individual look. You can see some of her amazing outfits and read about some of her style influences on her fashion blog, StyleRookie. Her feminist blog, RookieMag is even more BRILLIANT. I wish I had had it to get me through those 'difficult' years. It is still a great read if you have managed to escape from said 'difficult years' (congratulations!) and here is one of my fave articles from the 'live through this' section of the blog about wearing what you want, liking yourself and NOT CARING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU!

Finally it's London based feminist collective, Girls Get Busy, curated by Beth Siveyer. They support female writers, musicians and artists, release a monthly zine and organise some great events in London. They are working hard to eradicate that dried-up old perspective of feminists and to remind us all that feminism is COOL! Get involved and check out their blog! We particularly love their Girls Get Busy t-shirts with a cute heart-shaped feminist symbol.

Let us know what feminist blogs you like.........
