ITs Friday!!!

Football can be an emotional game, full of ups and downs. So, if your male friend becomes over emotional, do give him a shoulder to cry on and offer to buy him some chip or another pint. Hopefully this will do the trick. If all fails and he really is inconsolable then you will need to be tough, play him this song and tell the old boy to pull himself together. Football aside, enjoy this tune and wicked video. Happy Friday x

World Cup - Yay or Nay?

COME ON ENGLAND

The 2010 FIFA World Cup starts today. Some of you ladies may be just as excited as the male population but some of you may just find the whole thing as dull as having a conversation with David Beckam. My advice? Well there are lots of things you can do with the girls if the man in your life is out or at home watching England play - like:
- Go see that french flick you've been dying to see with mate and buy the biggest box of popcorn
- Get the girls over and do some proper pampering from head to toe. The list continues.
But my advice would be try and get involved! Football is v. easy to understand. Ask someone to explain a couple of the main rules including the offside rule, it really is quite a simple game to follow AND very exciting too. Especially the World Cup with its different teams, fans with their colourful banners, flags and chants and the often enthusiastic and energetic goal celebrations.
Here's a link to the offside rule to help get you started.
Even if you don't fully get it so what? The atmosphere in your local will be awesome! So, go on, join in on the fun and learn these 3 important words: COME ON ENGLAND

MIA - Born Free

Controversial? Thought provoking? You decide

MIA's new tune Born Free was released digitally last Monday and removed from Youtube on the same day. The track is awesome and the video is full on to say the least. Whatever your reaction may be towards this video, you can't ignore the harsh ethnic cleansing message. MIA is one of the very few English speaking artists bringing political awareness to music right now. Read her family history and you will learn her early years were filled with war, persecution and displacement. No one can ignore what she has to say and you simpley can not deny what she has to say is for real. To me "Maya" is a genius and an inspiration and I can't wait until 28th June when the album's released.

Glee Madonna Episode

Did anyone see Glee - the Madonna Episode last night? It was utterly hilarious, totally engaging and so well done! Loved all the songs they used. The Borderline and Open Your Heart mash up was brilliant, 4 Minutes in the Auditorium was superb and Sue Sylvester's Vogue was just
classic. Glee and Madge - my two fav things, does'nt come any better than that!

Robert Harding Saved My Mac

I was faced with a problem with my beloved MacBook last week. It made a clicking noise, and a white screen appeared with a question mark in the middle - BAD SIGN! I took my Mac to Robert Harding Computers Ltd in Hove and they fixed the problem in less than 24 hours. Not only is the service superb, the guys - Robert and Gordon are real gents, very professional and totally charming. I highly recommend them! Heres a link to their website http://www.rh-computers.com/
Thanks again guys!

Its Friday!!!

This Friday's tune is in memory of Mr Malcom McLaren. Wicked tune. Awesome video. Top man. Legend.

Malcolm McLaren RIP

Malcom McLaren was well known for a number of famous projects - manager of Sex Pistols, New York Dolls, Bow Wowo Wow, co owner of the shop "SEX" with his then girlfriend Vivienne Westwood, released the album "Duck Rock" which bought hip hop to a wider audience in the UK, but to name a few. The man was a genius, a trendsetter and full of ideas. McLaren once said " I make ideas happen that can change lives" and how he did indeed. I don't care what anyone says, but without him there would be no "Sex Pistols" without the Sex Pistols there would be no "Anarchy in the UK" one of the most influential and important records in rock music history. Respect.

Show Toons

I spent part of my Bank Hol eve watching " The 100 Greatest Musicals" Loved every moment - apart from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" never got it! But my fav musical which came in at 5 or 6 was "Cabaret" Oh how I love that film. In my opinion, Liza Minnelli gives one of the best performances I have ever seen in film - absolutely phenomenal!!! I tried to post up some scenes from Youtube but they were" disabled by request" If you have never seen "Cabaret" you got to check it or simply type in "Liza Minnelli - Mein Herr"on YT, simply one of the best scenes in any musical.

This week I'm liking......... Rosson Crow

Fabulous Crow

Buck Owens Trophy Room

Five Minutes Late and Two Bucks Short at the Cha Cha

Koenig House

Live in the Black Pussy

Rosson Crow is known for her exuberant large-scale depictions of nostalgia-laden interiors that blend historical allusion and theatrical illusion. The paintings evoke the good times of yesteryear. Her paintings are inspired by diverse references – Baroque and Rococo interior design, cowboy culture, Las Vegas architecture, theatre and music.
Crow says she paints in large strokes and chooses a frenetic palette of colours for the performing aspects of painting. She couldn't couldn't be a country-western singer (her first choice) or an actress (her second); she had to go with her talent, which is painting.

She finishes her paintings by slinging red and white slashes of glossy enamel over the surface. These, she says, are "my strokes of bravado."

For her "Texas Crude" opening at White Cube, her London gallery, earlier this year, she wore 1880's
Deadwood attire, a cinched-waist, floor-length, proper Western schoolmarm dress. But she has also been known to don showgirl attire for first nights.
While she may not have known what she was going to say at her lecture a day before she took the stage, she had her frock picked out days in advance. Our kind of gal!

ITS FRIDAY!!!

I totally adored Olivia Newton John when I was a girl. After watching "Greece" I wanted skinny black spandex bottoms and a black body. Then after Xanadu I wanted white roller boots.
