Peace to Japan
I've been back in UK for one week and the memories of Japan are still as fresh. So, this is what we got up to:
Hong Kong was our first stop. We hung out for 3 days with my dear family. They threw a big post Wedding party for us, and the night ended up with Vodka's at a Russian bar - where shots were imbibed in a big ice room and a massive karoke session.
Next stop Tokyo. Fast, neon kingdom, clean and full of vibrance and energy. This city has some of the BEST shops I have ever seen. Going into shops such as Commes des Garcons and Hysteric Glamour is like walking into a museum. The designs, the detail and the tailering is truly inspirational. So much thought and creativity is put into merchandising and displays- there was a back room in Hysterics where all four walls and every inch of the ceiling was decorated with snapshots of Bettie Page. HOW COOL!!!
The Japanese are lovely people, very respectful and they LOVE their fashion, full stop. Every person looks effortlessly cool, and possess their own personal, unique style. Even the school kids look cool as hell in their uniform.
Aside from shopping, we did a lot of eating too. For 8 days we were officially in Sushi heaven. We made a trip to Tsukiji fish market. I have never tasted such fresh sushi and at such an early hour. Good food, good living!!!
Mount Fuji. It was misty and we saw no Mount Fuji. We will revisit on our next trip to Japan.
Bullet train to Kyoto. Fast, clean and efficient. It left tokyo station dead on time and it ain't called the bullet train for no reason - this baby is FAST!!!
Kyoto. Ah Kyoto. All things traditional, surrounded by mountains and magnificent temples that take your breath away. These temples are set in beautiful surroundings, very tranquil and full of history. We also squeezed in some shopping (approx 7 hours in one day - my Husband was astonished, but that's pretty standard is'nt it ladies?) as well as some Geisha spotting in the Gion area before departing for Tokyo and then home.......... boooooo
The trip was a total dream holiday, I loved every moment, we took 900 pics, met some lovely people and I can't wait to return. Finally: Dear Japan, I LOVE YOU x
